Our colleagues from Innovarum Adrián Escribano and Ana Díaz attended the General Assembly of LIKE-A-PRO, held at Codeks Factory in Wuppertal on April 9th and 10th, 2024. As pioneers in innovative solutions, we were eager to contribute to the dynamic gathering of industry leaders and experts.

What is LIKE-A-PRO project about?

The LIKE-A-PRO initiative aims to mainstream alternative proteins across Europe, catering to diverse demographics and geographical areas. Key stakeholders in the alternative protein value chain will collaborate to achieve this goal, implementing practical solutions co-designed with citizens. This innovative approach will be implemented in 11 living laboratories and 4 real food environments. The project plans to develop 16 new alternative protein products sourced sustainably from 7 different novel protein sources (Rapeseed, mealworm, krill, microbial, cultivated mushroom, fermented fungal, fava & pea). Additionally, it will actively engage over 35,000 companies in the food system through co-creation and capacity building efforts. Innovative communication campaigns will be launched in 6 countries, targeting 8 million citizens over a span of 4 years to maximize impact. Through these concerted efforts, LIKE-A-PRO seeks to make alternative proteins more accessible, available, and acceptable across Europe.

In LIKE-A-PRO, Innovarum leads Work Package 5 “Middle Food System Actor Engagement”, with the aim to ensure co-creation & empowerment of these actors to make alternative proteins an easy-choice. Furthermore, Innovarum is also in charge of Exploitation, to ensure long-term deployment of the project´s exploitable results post-project.

The Event

Tuesday was filled with insightful discussions and updates on various Work Packages (WPs) crucial to shaping the future of our projects. From 09:00 to 17:00, we delved deep into presentations, debates, and updates on WPs covering a wide array of topics.

With breaks scheduled for networking and rejuvenation, participants had ample opportunities to connect, share insights, and foster collaborations. The day culminated in interactive Work Package interaction sessions where we delved into specific project areas, fostering synergy and innovation. As the day drew to a close, we gathered for a social dinner, providing a relaxed setting for further networking and informal discussions. During Wednesday, we continued our journey towards innovation and collaboration. From project management discussions to insightful presentations from Horizon4Proteins cluster projects.
