Unlocking the potential of thermo-sensitive bioactive ingredients
through a disruptive encapsulation method

CAPSULTEK

Project Description

Functional foods provide additional health benefits beyond its nutritional value. During the last years, the are becoming an outstanding success: global market is expected to grow around a 50% through 2022.

Functional foods are mostly obtained by adding bioactive ingredients to food, which must be encapsulated previously. The encapsulation process usually works with high temperature and that may cause problems with the thermo-sensitive character of some of the most important bioactive ingredients (Omega-3, probiotics, vitamins…)

CAPSULTEK  provides an innovative technology called electrospraying assisted by pressurised gas, which can encapsulate any kind of molecule, enhancing its stability and extending its shelf-life: a disruptive innovation for  micro and nanoencapsulation and the only cost-effective solution suitable for of bioactive ingredients.

CAPSULTEK has been developed by BIOINICIA, a Spanish company specilised in nanoencapsulation.
