Transforming biowaste into safe and effective soil improvers

Project Description

Soil degradation is considered a global emergency. 60 to 70% of EU soils are degraded due to unsustainable management practices.

SOILUTIONS intends to optimise four bio-waste valorisation routes to develop advanced bio-waste soil improvers. These improvers aim at enhancing the nutrient recovery of soils from bio-waste and, therefore, reducing landfilling and incineration.

The valorisation routes will render a range of bio-waste feedstocks, that combined with key additives will turn into at least five bio-waste soil improvers.

Three Living Labs will co-create the SOILUTIONS’ soil improvers in Flandres (Belgium), Valencia and Murcia (Spain).
